TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama is gearing up for a rematch with Auburn after setting a standard for offensive futility in the first meeting.
The Crimson Tide and Tigers play Tuesday night in a rematch of an earlier 49-37 Auburn win. It was the fewest points Alabama had scored in the rivals' 146 meetings.
The Tide has rebounded well enough to salvage some hope for a league title and NCAA tournament berth. That still stands as the Tigers' only win in a 12-game, six-week stretch.
`Bama guard Andrew Steele says he doesn't think the Tide is "looking for any extra motivation" in facing its top rival.
Auburn coach Tony Barbee says that win won't necessarily give his team added confidence. He says the Tigers haven't duplicated that defensive effort since that first meeting.
