Former FSU QB Clint Trickett To Start WVU Opener Against Alabama

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) -- West Virginia quarterback Clint Trickett will get the first test of his surgically repaired shoulder in the season opener against No. 2 Alabama.

The Mountaineers and Crimson Tide meet Saturday at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

Trickett returns for his senior season after starting seven games a year ago, when West Virginia finished 4-8. He underwent surgery in January on his throwing shoulder and missed spring practice.

Alabama coach Nick Saban was the head coach at LSU in 2000 when Trickett's father, Rick, was the Tigers' offensive line coach for one season.

Asked whether he had any stories to tell about Saban, Trickett says his first kiss was with Saban's daughter, Kristen, when he was 6.
