ATLANTA, Georgia -- Jacob Coker's boxes likely weren't unpacked by the time he had his first official meeting with Alabama coach Nick Saban.

Speaking before his Crimson Caravan appearance Tuesday, Saban said he met with the Crimson Tide's newest quarterback Monday shortly after he arrived on campus.

Coker, who is taking classes during Alabama's summer interim session, is already working through a rehab program to get up to speed conditioning-wise, Saban said. He'll also be a part of meetings to "learn the offense," which Saban has described as similar to what Coker ran for three seasons at Florida State.

Coker visited Alabama "a few times" throughout spring practice, Saban said, as five other quarterbacks competed to put their best foot forward heading into the summer.

The majority of Coker's teammates will return to campus at the end of the month for the beginning of summer semester.

"He's got plenty of time to sort of try to get adjusted," Saban said. "I think the big thing is that our plan is that he can just stay focused on what he needs to do to be a good player. He needs to be himself and play quarterback the way he can play it.

"If he can do a good job of executing his offense, I think we've got good enough players around him that we can help him be successful and he can help us be successful."

Saban said there haven't been "any issues or problems" with Coker's surgically repaired knee, which went under the knife in November. Coker tore his meniscus against Wake Forest in what ultimately turned out to be his final action with the Seminoles.

In an interview Monday with AL.com, Coker's personal quarterback coach David Morris said Coker was "better now than he's ever looked."
