Alabama Lands Verbal Commitment from Tony Brown

St. Petersburg, FL -- Alabama's top-ranked recruiting class received a boost during Thursday's Under Armour All-American Game. Tony Brown, the 11th-ranked player in ESPN's Top 300 verbally committed to the Crimson Tide.

Brown chose the Tide over LSU and Ohio State. The Beaumont, Texas native was unable to play in the game, due to a shoulder injury sustained during Under Armour practice.

The addition of Brown gives Alabama 24 verbal commitments, including 17 inside the ESPN Top 300. Brown's decision softened the blow of missing out on several prospects earlier in the day.

Jalen Tabor, the 15th-ranked recruit in ESPN's Top 300 surprised some by choosing Arizona over Alabama. Four-star wide receiver Travis Rudolph picked Florida State over the Tide and Auburn.

Brown's commitment also bolsters an area of Alabama's 2014 recruiting class that has taken some hits in the past few months. Former Alabama pledges Stephen Roberts and Kalvarez Bessent both decommitted from the Tide, flipping to Auburn. Roberts and Bessent are both four-star recruits.

Alabama currently has three players committed in the defensive secondary in Brown, Calera High star Ronnie Clark and Kingsland, Georgia product Chris Williams.
