TUSCALOOSA, Alabama - Alabama's 2012 preseason camp has started. The Crimson Tide is practicing twice today, but the squad is split. Returning players are practicing this morning. Newcomers will go at 7:30 p.m.

Junior Eddie Lacy is leading a small group of running backs. That's news because Lacy missed spring practice while recovering from foot surgery. He was Trent Richardson's backup last season and is expected to start this season. He sustained a turf toe injury in Alabama's fourth game last season, and the problem lingered, but not enough to keep him from averaging 7.1 yards per carry. Lacy was showing no signs of a foot ailment today.
