TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama quarterback Phillip Ely is transferring to Toledo. Ely told al.com on Wednesday that he visited Toledo's campus last week and will attend classes this summer.
He says he also looked at Illinois, South Florida and Vanderbilt. Toledo spokesman Paul Helgren says nothing has been made official.
Ely was a four-star recruit at Tampa Plant High School before signing with the Crimson Tide. He redshirted, before playing sparingly last season.
In six games, Ely completed 3-of-4 passes for 42 yards and one touchdown.
