Several Auburn, Alabama and Troy players have signed contracts at undrafted rookie free agents. These players signed less than 24 hours after the NFL Lockout came to an end.
Ten Auburn players have signed free agent deals, including wide receiver Darvin Adams and offensive lineman Ryan Pugh, who signed with Carolina. The Panthers already have Auburn rookies Cam Newton and Lee Ziemba, who were drafted in April.
Offensive lineman Byron Isom is bound for Minnesota, while Mike Berry has signed with New England. Linebacker Josh Bynes joins a defensive powerhouse in Baltimore, while running back Mario Fannin picked Denver and defensive back Demond Washington chose Kansas City. Late on Tuesday, defensive back and Troy native Zac Etheridge signed with Oakland, while defensive lineman Mike Blanc picked San Diego and wide receiver Terrell Zachery signed with Baltimore.
Other Auburn players hoping to sign include kicker Wes Byrum, receiver Terrell Zachery linebacker Craig Stevens, receiver Kodi Burns and defensive back Zac Etheridge. Auburn had two other players drafted in April, with Nick Fairley going to Detroit and Zach Clayton going to Tennessee.
A pair of Alabama players have signed free agent deals. Defensive lineman Luther Davis has signed with Buffalo, joining Marcel Dareus, who went third overall in the April draft. Tight end Preston Dial signed with Detroit.
For the Troy Trojans, running back DuJuan Harris is set to join the Jacksonville Jaguars. Harris has been preparing under Troy Strength and Conditioning Coach Richard Shaughnessy.
He joins former Trojans linebacker Boris Lee with the Jaguars, and former Trojans defensive back Trevor Ford is expected to sign with Jacksonville as well putting three Trojans on the same team.
Troy defensive end Mario Addison is joining the Chicago Bears, and according to Shaughnessy, he was the first non-drafted free agent to sign with any team after the lockout.
Wide receiver Jason Bruce is working through free agency as well, and his status is still up in the air at this point.
