KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee has hired Parker Executive
Search to help find a new athletic director, and interim director
Joan Cronan is on the university's five-member search committee.
The university signed Parker to help replace Mike Hamilton, who
announced his resignation June 7. Cronan said Friday in Nashville
that she won't be a candidate.
"I love the title interim," Cronan said. "I'm looking forward
to being part of the transition."
Joining Cronan on the search committee is Daniel Murphy,
Tennessee's NCAA faculty athletic representative and chairman of
the university's athletics board; Tennessee provost and senior vice
chancellor for academic affairs Susan Martin; trustee Charles
Anderson; and alumnus and donor John Tickle.
The Knoxville News Sentinel first reported the hiring of Parker
Search and the members of the search committee. University
spokeswoman Margie Nichols confirmed the Parker Search contract was signed Thursday. Parker will be paid at least $90,000 with a
maximum of $105,000 to assist with the search with the contract
going through Aug. 13.
