TROY, Ala. – The 2014 Troy softball season is fast approaching, with the Troy Subway Invitational just one week away. In all, seven teams will be in attendance, including in-state rival Alabama, who will take on Troy in the final game at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon.
Admission to all games will be free. Live stats will be available for each game at Troy.statbroadcast.com.
Competition opens up on Friday, February 7, at 9:30 a.m. at the newly renovated Troy Softball Complex, with Kennesaw State taking on Middle Tennessee. Troy will play its first game at 5 p.m., against Northwestern State.
The Trojans will play two games on Saturday, February 8, against Kennesaw State at 12 p.m. and Memphis at 5 p.m. Troy’s final game comes at 2:30 on Sunday afternoon against Alabama.
Three games will be take place at the Troy Sportsplex, beginning with Middle Tennessee taking on Memphis at 1 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday, Northwestern State will play North Florida at 11 a.m. and North Florida will play Middle Tennessee at 1:30 p.m.
This year’s field is larger than in years past, with three more teams than the 2013 Troy Subway Invitational. Last year, Virginia Tech went 5-0. Troy’s Rachel Rigney and Brittany Russ were both named to the all-tournament team.
