TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Freshman Trevor Releford has been the
point man during Alabama's revival.
The freshman point guard has provided a missing link to the
Crimson Tide's team: A drive-and-dish ballhandler who runs the
floor and is a passer first and scorer second.
Releford is the Tide's only new addition making a significant
contribution. He has helped Alabama (15-7, 7-1 Southeastern
Conference) win 10 of its last 11 games and already top last year's
league win total midway through the SEC season.
He'll try to handle a hostile crowd at No. 23 Vanderbilt
Releford ranks in the top 10 in the SEC in assists, free throw
shooting, steals and assist-to-turnover ratio.
He's stepped in for guards Mikhail Torrance and Anthony Brock,
whose departure left a significant void on the roster.
