TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Junior college transfer Duron Carter is
officially part of Alabama's team.
The wide receiver joined the Crimson Tide for the first time at
Monday's practice after an issue regarding his transcript was
resolved. Carter is the son of former NFL star receiver Cris
He's wearing the No. 8 sported by ex-Alabama star Julio Jones
the past three seasons.
Saban said earlier Monday that if Carter is cleared, the coaches
still have to make sure he's in game shape and "he probably
wouldn't have a lot of opportunity in this game." The Tide opens
the season against Kent State on Saturday.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound Carter initially signed with Ohio State
but spent last season at Coffeyville Community College in Kansas.
He had 44 catches for 690 yards and 10 touchdowns.
