KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Tennessee sophomore defensive back Dontavis Sapp has had surgery to repair his fractured left ring finger.

A spokesman for the Volunteers says Sapp injured his finger during practice on Monday and underwent surgery on Monday night. Sapp is expected to return to practice within a week or two and be available for the Vols' season opener against Montana on Sept. 1.
