COLUMBIA, S.C. -- South Carolina players say they're glad to
finish the regular season with another title, even if they must
share the Southeastern Conference crown with rivals Florida and
Vanderbilt.
All three of the SEC Eastern Division rivals finished 22-8 in
league play. The Gamecocks, however, took two out of three games
from both the Gators and Commodores this season.
South Carolina first baseman Christian Walker says the defending
national champs have earned their place atop the league standings
heading into this week's SEC tournament.
Walker says the Gamecocks are "not going to let the co- part
ruin it for us."
South Carolina will be the No. 1 seed for tournament.
The Gamecocks got a bit more validation Monday when rankings by
Collegiate Baseball and Baseball America both elevated South
Carolina to No. 1.
