SEC honors Newton, Nelson

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Auburn quarterback Cam Newton is the
Southeastern Conference offensive player of the week for the fifth
time.

Newton passed for 216 yards and three touchdowns and ran for a
fourth score to lead the Tigers' come-from-behind 28-27 win over
Alabama.

Arkansas linebacker Jerico Nelson won defensive honors after
making 11 tackles in a win over LSU, including a sack.

South Carolina's Spencer Lanning claimed the special teams award
after kicking three field goals and averaging 42.7 yards per punt
against Clemson.

Mississippi State tackle Derek Sherrod won offensive line
honors, while Auburn's Nick Fairley and Georgia's Abry Jones shared
the award on the defensive line.

Mississippi State running back LaDarius Perkins and Tennessee
quarterback Tyler Bray are co-freshmen of the week.
