BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Alabama's Tony Mitchell is the
Southeastern Conference player of the week.
The SEC also named Kentucky's Terrence Jones freshman of the
week on Monday.
Mitchell averaged 20 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in the
Crimson Tide's wins over LSU and Arkansas. He scored a career-high 27 points against the Razorbacks, including three dunks.
Mitchell also collected nine rebounds in the Arkansas game and
made 11 of 15 shots.
Jones averaged 18 points, 11 rebounds and four assists to help
the Wildcats beat Mississippi State and South Carolina. He had
double-doubles in both games.
Jones tied career highs with five assists against Mississippi
State and with five offensive rebounds against South Carolina.
