BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Standout junior college quarterback Zach
Mettenberger is returning to the SEC after officially signing to
play for LSU.

LSU officials say the 6-foot-5, 230-pound Mettenberger delivered
his national letter of intent on Wednesday. He spent one redshirt
season at Georgia, but was dismissed by the Bulldogs last spring
for violating team rules.

Mettenberger played this season at Butler Community College in
El Dorado, Kansas, which lost in the national junior college
championship game.

Mettenberger passed for 2,678 yards and 32 touchdowns at Butler
(11-1).

He is scheduled to enroll in January and participate in spring
drills. He will be eligible to compete with Jordan Jefferson and
Jarrett Lee for the starting job next fall.

LSU ranked last in passing in the Southeastern Conference this
season.
