AUBURN, Ala. (AP) -- This is an especially tough week for injured Auburn tight end Philip Lutzenkirchen

The Marietta, Ga., native will have to settle for cheering from the sidelines as the Tigers take on No. 5 Georgia Saturday night.

Lutzenkirchen said Tuesday he "might still be the most fired-up guy on that field" with his home state team visiting.

Lutzenkirchen had to shut down his senior season with a hip injury. One of the team's most popular players, he underwent surgery two weeks ago after doctors told him playing on might force him to have a hip replacement before his 30th birthday.

He had been playing with a torn labrum and three bone spurs.

Lutzenkirchen is hoping to be ready for the Senior Bowl in January, or at least the NFL combine.
