Nick Saban: Alabama football lost its identity last year, getting it back won’t be easy

TUSCALOOSA, Alabama — Most Nick Saban news conferences start out with the post-practice locker room speech to the players.

That held up Wednesday after Alabama's 10th spring practice of the year. These would be the dog days of spring and his opening statement reflected it.

"Alabama football's supposed to be a tough, physical team that nobody really likes to play against," Saban said. "That's been our identity. We've lost that identity a little bit, I think, the way we finished the year last year. That's something that we've got to get back, and it's hard, and you really can't make it easy."
