TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Former Alabama quarterback Greg McElroy
won't be able to throw at the NFL combine because of an injury to
his throwing hand.
McElroy was initially diagnosed with a fractured bone after
hitting his hand on a teammate's helmet during the Senior Bowl last
Saturday. He told The Tuscaloosa News in a story Tuesday that he
had it examined again by a hand specialist in Scottsdale, Ariz.,
and that he might have only a deep bruise.
McElroy doesn't think he'll have to have surgery, but is hoping
for a more definitive diagnosis by week's end.
He finished the possession after his injury before heading to
McElroy says he's hoping to be ready in time for Alabama's pro
day on-campus workout and is hoping it can be pushed back to late
