LANSING, Mich. (AP) - The Michigan Senate has approved naming a
stretch of state highway for former Heisman Trophy winner Mark
The measure passed the Senate unanimously Wednesday and next
goes to the Michigan House.
Democratic Sen. John Gleason of Flushing sponsored the bill to
honor Ingram, who went to high school in Michigan and played
collegiately at Alabama. Gleason's bill would name a stretch of
M-21 that runs through the middle of Flint the "Mark V. Ingram II
A previous effort passed the Senate last November but failed to
pass the House.
The bill that would name a stretch of highway in honor of Mark
Ingram is Senate Bill 56.
