BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- LSU has set a new record for season ticket sales with 68,772 for the 2011 season. Assistant Athletic Director for ticket operations Brian Broussard, who announced the record on Monday, says LSU surpassed the old mark of 68,650 because of newly added club-level seats in Tiger Stadium that increased overall capacity to 92,542.
LSU places an artificial ceiling on season tickets in order to preserve some parts of the stadium for single-game sales and partial-season plans. Broussard says demand for LSU season tickets is stronger than ever and requests continue to be higher than the number of season tickets LSU has to offer.
LSU plays the first of six 2011 home games on Sept. 10 against
