The Auburn football program lands their 7th commitment for the class of 2013. The latest defensive player to commit apparently was won over by new defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder, formerly of the Atlanta Falcons.
Cornerback Jahmere Irvin-Sills committed Friday night, giving the Tigers 11 commitments for 2013 in total.
If it so desires, Auburn has eight months to balance this offense-defense thing before Signing Day 2013. Auburn's previous commitment was, indeed, tight end A.J. Jackson.
The Friday night commitment of Irvin-Sills is a bit unusual considering he's never visted Auburn. He's expected in Auburn in the next two weeks.
He learned a lot about the Tigers from childhood friend Angelo Blackson, a defensive lineman who is already at Auburn. Coaches VanGorder, Gene Chizik and Tommy Thigpen completed the recruiting with visits.
Irvin-Sills and Blackson grew up playing football together in Bear, Del.
The cornerback is a wide receiver and returns punts in his spare time.
