AUBURN, Alabama -- Ellis Johnson's strategy early in fall camp was simple.

Facing four days mandated without live tackling before Auburn put on full pads, Johnson focused on installing his playbook, throwing an awful lot at the Tigers' defenders early.

Auburn defensive coordinator Ellis Johnson speaks about Justin Garrett's injury, Cassanova McKinzy, the development of the young players and more after the Tigers' scrimmage on August 11, 2013.
Now, after two scrimmages, the defense is still playing some catch-up on the Tigers' schemes and playbook after struggling with mental errors during Saturday's session.
