Georgia to revise record on senior plaques

Georgia receiver Tavarres King (12) drops a crucial pass as he is defended by Central Florida defensive back Justin Boddie during Thursday's 10- lossto the Knights in the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, Tenn.

ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - The University of Georgia may have jumped the
gun.

The school distributed plaques to its senior football players at its annual awards gala last month with 7-6 inscribed as the team's
record, even though the Bulldogs were 6-6 at the time.

The school got egg on its face after the University of Central Florida defeated Georgia last week 10-6 at the Liberty Bowl.

Athletics spokesman Claude Felton said in an e-mail that the team routinely includes a bowl victory in the record on the senior plaques and then makes a revision if the team loses.

He said the plaques "did not have anything to do with taking UCF lightly."

Now the team's 23 seniors will be getting new plaques bearing
the 2010 team's accurate record: 6-7.
