Gabe Gross is returning to the diamond, but not as a player. Gross is returning to his Alma Mater, signing on as an undergraduate assistant at Auburn.
The former Northview star had a standout career with the Tigers. After one season as Auburn's starting quarterback, Gross gave up football and concentrated on baseball. The move paid off.
Toronto selected Gross in the first round of the Major League Draft in 2011 with the 12th pick. He played seven seasons in the Major Leagues with Toronto, Milwaukee, Tampa Bay and Oakland, helping the Rays reach the World Series in 2008.
