Former Houston Academy pitcher Tyler Adams joins the Tide

This time last year, former Houston Academy pitcher Tyler Adams couldn't lift weights. Now, he's working hard in the weightroom.

The summer before his senior year, Adams underwent Tommy Johns surgery on his right elbow. A procedure that in many cases, ends a pitcher's career. But not for Adams. After battling through eight months of physical therpay, he took the mound for his final high school season.

But his time on the mound isn't ending there. Adams has earned a spot on the roster at the University of Alabama. He says the Tide have been his team since he was a little kid so when they offered him the opportunity, he couldn't help but take it.

Adams says he's feeling really good, really strong, and his arm is back to 100 percent. He's taken this summer to hit the gym and get to work. He was also being looked at by Auburn, UAB and South Alabama but stuck to his Tide roots in the end.
