TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama coach Nick Saban says he's
bringing along new receiver Duron Carter somewhat slowly.
Saban says Wednesday that Carter will "certainly help us down the road at the receiver position." He says he's targeting next week to start getting the junior college transfer into the offense.
Carter wasn't allowed to practice until Monday because of a transcript issue. Saban says Carter didn't practice in full pads the first two days but would Wednesday and Thursday.
The former Ohio State player was one of Alabama's more anticipated signees after playmaking receiver Julio Jones left for the NFL. Saban says Carter has good size and quickness and is "one of those guys that's hard to cover."
He also points out that Carter does have some college experience and is no freshman.
