KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Knox County court has dismissed charges of public intoxication and disorderly conduct against Tennessee senior linebacker Austin Johnson.
The 22-year-old Hickory, N.C., native was arrested in the early hours of July 24 after he was spotted trying to start a fight and hitting cars in a parking lot behind a Knoxville bar. According to Knox County General Sessions Court records, the charges against him were dismissed Thursday morning.
Johnson said earlier this week that he was extremely embarrassed
about his actions and arrest and planned to learn from his mistakes
and be a better leader for the Volunteers. Tennessee coach Derek Dooley has said he planned to handle Johnson's punishment internally.
