The Carolina Panthers made Cam Newton the number one pick in the NFL Draft in April. Newton likes that number so much, he's made it his own.
Newton will wear the No. 1 for the Panthers as a rookie. He wore No.2 at Auburn, but current Panthers QB Jimmy Clausen already has that number.
Clausen decided to keep the number, forcing Newton to pick a new one. That number could prophetic for both signal callers, with Newton entering training camp as the presumptive favorite to start for the Panthers.
This isn't the first time Newton has changed his number. He wore the No. 2 at Auburn and Blinn College, but wore No. 13 at Florida as a freshman.
Newton is starting camp with some old friends from the 2010 Tigers: offensive linemen Lee Ziemba and Ryan Pugh, and last year favorite-receiver Darvin Adams.
