SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Auburn middle linebacker Josh Bynes is
the guy behind the guy.
He lines up behind tackle Nick Fairley, the defense's only real
star, and is the top-ranked Tigers' leading tackler for the second
straight season. Bynes mostly floats under the radar, and he seems
perfectly content with that.
Oregon tailback LaMichael James is baffled by that low-key
James said Thursday he thinks Bynes is "one of the top
linebackers in the country." Fairley says he's a great leader and
"the type of guy that works behind the scenes."
As the Tigers' defensive playcaller, Bynes could be a key figure
in Monday night's national championship game against the Ducks and a fast-paced offense that allows no time to waste in getting lined
