AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Former Auburn standout Mike Pelton is the
Tigers' new defensive line coach.
Auburn announced Wednesday that Pelton has been hired to replace
Tracy Rocker, who left to coach with the Tennessee Titans after
helping the Tigers win a national title.
The 39-year-old was hired in January as defensive line coach at
Louisiana Lafayette after working with defensive ends Vanderbilt
last season. He spent two seasons as Iowa State's defensive line
coach under current Auburn coach Gene Chizik.
Pelton was a first-team All-SEC pick at defensive tackle for the
Tigers in 1994. He was a co-captain as a senior.
Pelton spent six years on the staff at Troy, the final two as
co-defensive coordinator. He worked with current NFL players
Demarcus Ware and Osi Umenyiora.
