Auburn Holds First Practice in Full Pads

Auburn Head Coach Gene Chizik has said repeatedly, he's had his most fun coaching this year's edition of the Tigers. A lot of that enjoyment has come from the Tigers youth and exuberance, with 54 true or redshirt freshmen on the roster.

But, there's a flip side to all of that youth. It makes the coaches job that much harder, getting everyone on the same page.

The Tigers experienced some of those growing pains on Monday, during their first practice in full pads. Coach Chizik says he liked the players effort, but says the team must have more focus and attention to detail moving forward.

Chizik and Gus Malzahn both told reporters on Monday, they're looking for players willing to "bite". When asked what that means, Malzahn said someone who's willing to, "stick their head in there and get after it."
