The Auburn Tigers officially named their starting quarterback for the opening game against Clemson. Kiehl Frazier will take the snaps under center in the Chick-Fil-A kickoff game. The decision was announced by head coach Gene Chizik early Thursday.
"After a complete and thorough evaluation during spring practice and through the first three-plus weeks of camp, Kiehl Frazier has earned the starting job at quarterback," Chizik said.
Frazier did mostly Wildcat plays last year, and was 5 of 12 passing with two interceptions. He was third on the team in rushing with 327 yards and three touchdowns.
He is expected to be a pro-style QB in Scot Loeffler’s offense.
