ATHENS, Ga. (AP) - Aron White will have the last word on
White, a tight end, was selected by the Student Government
Association to speak at University of Georgia's commencement
ceremony Friday at Stegeman Coliseum.
It's a rare honor.
Longtime sports information director Claude Felton says he knows
of only two student-athletes to speak at commencement: Football
player Tommy Lawhorne was valedictorian in 1968, and former
basketball star Teresa Edwards returned to speak in 2000.
White says he will pursue a master's degree in sports management
and wants to become an athletic director.
Georgia, only 6-6 as it heads to the Liberty Bowl, had 11
players arrested this year. White says he hopes to influence
negative public opinions of the team.
