TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama's Kayla Braud has been named the top senior student-athlete in Division I softball.
The four-time All-Southeastern Conference performer received the Senior Class Award for softball on Wednesday.
The award is given to a senior based on academic and athletic achievements as well as character and service to the community. The winner is chosen by a vote of Division I softball coaches.
Braud carries a 3.7 grade point average in public relations and has been on the Dean's List her entire career. In the community, Braud assisted with relief efforts in Tuscaloosa after a tornado and is involved with several charities.
Crimson Tide coach Patrick Murphy says Braud "is one of those kids who comes along once in a coach's lifetime."
