TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - The forecast for Alabama's 2011 season
should become significantly clearer within the next month.
Wide receiver Julio Jones, tailback Mark Ingram and defensive
end Marcell Dareus are all juniors who are regarded as likely
first-round NFL draft picks if they declare themselves eligible.
The deadline for that is Jan. 18.
Coach Nick Saban says he has modified his standard advice to
underclassmen weighing an NFL move because of the current uncertain labor situation. He says instead of advising likely first-rounders that leaving might be best for them, he's "kind of reduced that to guys that are a Top-15 pick or they don't have a chance to move up
in the future."
Ingram, Dareus and Jones have all deflected questions about the
NFL until after the season.
