TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Tony Mitchell recorded a double-double
with 20 points and 13 rebounds to lead Alabama to a 72-50 victory
over South Alabama on Wednesday night.
Charvez Davis had 15 points and Senario Hillman 14 for the
Crimson Tide (4-3). Martino Brock scored 11, Javier Carter 10 and
Augustine Rubit grabbed 13 rebounds for South Alabama (2-4).
The Jaguars had a 13-9 lead at the 12:40 mark of the first half
but the Crimson Tide went on an 18-4 run to go in front 27-17 on a
field goal by Mitchell with 4:29 remaining. Davis made three
3-pointers during the run.
Alabama shot 53.8 percent from the floor (14 of 26) and 66.7
percent from three-point range (4 of 6) to maintain a 10-point
advantage at intermission, 33-23.
JaMychal Green, Alabama's leading scorer coming into the
contest, sat out his second straight game due a suspension for
conduct detrimental to the team.
