Alabama holds commanding SEC West lead

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Alabama is threatening to run away with
a division title.

The Crimson Tide has four fewer losses than any other
Southeastern Conference Western Division team with six league games remaining. Half of those are against SEC West teams, including Thursday night at LSU.

Alabama hasn't won a division title since 2005, or been to the
NCAA tournament since 2006. With power ratings still hovering in
the mid-80s, a tournament bid is far from a certainty though
winning the West became increasingly likely with a win over
potential challenger Mississippi.

It's a marked turnaround in coach Anthony Grant's second season.
This time last year, Alabama was 3-7 in league games and had lost
four straight. Now, the Tide is 8-2 and has won 11 of its last 13
games.
