AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn quarterback Cam Newton is the Iron
Bowl's hot topic, even if he's not talking.
The second-ranked Tigers star remains off-limits to the media
going into Friday's game at No. 9 Alabama. Coach Gene Chizik said
Tuesday he's not answering questions about Newton "unless it's got
something to do with the first 11 games."
That leaves plenty of fodder.
Newton has been the subject of intense scrutiny since
allegations that his father, Cecil, sought $180,000 from
Mississippi State boosters during the recruiting process.
Despite the off the field issues, Cam Newton is one of three
finalists for the Maxwell and Davey O'Brien awards and a Heisman
Alabama defensive end Marcell Dareus says "you can't just stop
him. You've got to contain him."
