Safety Mark Barron
(On preseason expectations) “For the most part, we just try not to buy into that. We just try to come out and work hard every day. Basically, we don’t deal with that too much.”
(On high expectations) “We want to come out and win a national championship, to be undefeated. Every time we step out on the field, one of our motivating factors is to be special.”
(On his injury in the Auburn game) “I wouldn’t ay I’m 100 percent. Probably 90 percent.”
(On the devastating April tornadoes) “That situation, it was devastating. Lots of people lost everything. They lost material things, but they also lost hope. When season starts, they follow Alabama so if we go out and have a great season for them, we can give them a little something back.”
(On the slogan in the weight room ‘Never Again’) “As a defense, we didn’t finish in that Auburn game. Never again will we go out and not finish like we did in that Auburn game.”
(On the remaining 10 percent to his injury) “There’s scar tissue still left. It’s got to break up in order for me to be 100 percent.”
(On the team’s tough early schedule) “That’s something we’re trying to get established, get everyone on the same page. Like minds move mountains. If we can have everyone on the same page, there’s nothing we can’t do.”
(On what he wants the defense to be known for) “They don’t quit. They finish. Always.”
