Alabama took the next step on it's pre-season checklist on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide held it's first two-a-day practice, working in extreme heat in Tuscaloosa.
After a few days of installation, Tide coaches spent the morning working with players on technique. Players will get plenty of repetition on that technique this week, with five practices in three days.
And, the players know, every second of work put in right now can help move the team one step closer to a championship this fall.
"You've got to work to be the best," Junior Defensive Back Dre Kirkpatrick said. "Without hard work, you're nothing, so, everyday, that's my motto. I just try to go out there and work hard to be the best player that I can be."
Sophomore running back Eddie Lacy agrees. He says you've got to be committed and tough to handle the early portion of training camp.
"It's really a mindset," Lacy said. "If you go out knowing what you have to do and knowing that you have full pads on, you'll go through it as if you have on shorts. If you're not mentally ready for that, then you'll be sluggish all practice."
Alabama will practice again at 7:30 on Wednesday night, with one practice scheduled for Thursday. The Crimson Tide will hold their first scrimmage on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
