Alabama Women's Golfer Wins National Award

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama women's golfer Brooke Pancake
has won the Edith Cummings Golf Award. The National Golf Coaches Association presents the award annually to an upperclassman who is both an All-American and an All-American Scholar.

A $5,000 donation goes to Alabama's general scholarship fund. Crimson Tide coach Mic Potter says Pancake is deserving and "is
the ultimate combination of student and athlete."

Pancake has a 4.0 grade point average in marketing. She also has
a school-record 73.27 career scoring average with 15 top-10 finishes and 23 rounds at par or better.

The two-time Southeastern Conference Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year won the Tar Heel Invitational last season for her first tournament victory.
