Alabama Football Team Shrugs Off Expectations

The Alabama Football Team hopes it can look back at Friday morning's practice as the moment that launched a National Championship run. The Crimson Tide opened training camp on Friday, hitting the field at 9:00 a.m.

Veterans took the field to start training camp. Newcomers were set to join the team for the Friday night in-door practice.

Alabama opens the season ranked No. 2 in the Coaches' Poll, but Nick Saban has a familiar message for his team; forget the predictions and focus o the the things you can do to help the team win a title.

"It will be about what we do, and not what we can do," Saban said. That's basically what it comes down to. The pre-season is kind of like, we've had a class in winter conditioning, we had a class in spring practice, we had a class in the summer and now, it's final exams."

Alabama got some good news on Friday, when Brett Calloway was cleared by the NCAA to join the team. He could give the Tide some badly needed depth at running back.

The Crimson Tide is still waiting on clearance for JUCO transfer Duron Carter, and incoming freshman Danny Woodson Jr. Both players are wide receivers, and would help with depth at that position as well.
