TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) -- Alabama will hold a public memorial service for former athletic director Mal Moore.

The university says the "Celebration of Life" will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. CDT in Coleman Coliseum.

Moore died Saturday at age 73 after being hospitalized for several weeks at Duke University Medical Center with pulmonary problems.

He had been athletic director since 1999 after playing on Bear Bryant's first national championship team in 1961. Moore also coached under Bryant and Gene Stallings.

No further details on the service were immediately available.
