TUSCALOOSA, Alabama -- The top two playmakers on Alabama's defense made the cut for one of college football's top honors.
Cornerback Dee Milliner and linebacker C.J. Mosley are two of 16 semifinalists for the Chuck Bednarik Award, which goes annually to the nation's top defensive player.
The original list began with 65 players.
Former LSU cornerback Tyrann Mathieu won the award last season. An Alabama player has never won it.
