MOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Mobile police have arrested former Alabama
and NFL linebacker Keith McCants on charges of using and possessing
Police spokesman Officer Christopher Levy says McCants was
released about two hours after he was booked at Mobile County Metro
Jail midday Wednesday.
Narcotics officers say they spotted McCants in the 1300 block of
Hercules Street about noon and found an item considered drug
paraphernalia. Levy would not specify what the item was.
The arrest was the latest in a string for the troubled athlete,
who was arrested last month for allegedly trying to buy drugs at a
Mobile hotel in April 20.
McCant's legal troubles since leaving the NFL have included
charges of cocaine possession, bad-check writing and theft. A
message left at a phone number listed for McCants was not
immediately returned Wednesday night.
