NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (AP) - The Southeastern Conference is
already the only conference to have three consecutive national
champions.

Alabama can make it four in a row Thursday night, when the
top-ranked Crimson Tide plays No. 2 Texas in the BCS title game at
the Rose Bowl.

SEC football has never been stronger, more popular or more
lucrative. The conference distributed $132.5 million to its members
last year, the majority of which came from the television rights
for football.

For the second straight season, a Big 12 team stands in the way
of the SEC and another championship.

A Texas victory would not only be huge for the Longhorns and the
Big 12, but for college football fans everywhere who have grown
tired of hearing about the SEC.
