This weekend marks the return of Big Cat Weekend at Auburn, an annual tradition that has yielded big returns for the Tigers' football program over the last five years.
The invitation-only event gives the Auburn coaching staff the chance to spend some quality time with some of the prospects at the top of their recruiting board along with their families but also lets those recruits get to know one another in hopes of building a bond between some of the players that could eventually make up the core of Auburn's signing class next February.
Among the names visiting this weekend are all seven of Auburn's currently committed players for the Class of 2014; Prattville running back Kamryn Pettway, Georgia tight end Chris Laye, junior college defensive back Derrick Moncrief, and the quartet of recent Mobile-area commits including linebackers Tre' Williams and Deshaun Davis, offensive lineman Joshua Casher and defensive end Justin Thornton.
Joining those commits will be six of the top uncommitted prospects from the state of Alabama. Oxford running back Racean Thomas is arguably the highest-rated prospect scheduled to visit Auburn this weekend, with a five-star rating from several of the major recruiting services.
