AUBURN, Ala. (AP) - Auburn linebacker Eltoro Freeman says he
learned a lot from a frustrating debut season.

He says he arrived at preseason camp this month with a better
understanding of his assignments and of "how to handle things."
Freeman had only seven tackles in his first seven games last season
and was left at home when the Tigers traveled to Arkansas.

He says that experience - and a heart-to-heart with coach Gene
Chizik - helped him turn things around. Two weeks later, Freeman
had 12 tackles against LSU.

He has moved back from middle linebacker to the will spot behind
entrenched starter Craig Stevens. Chizik praises how Freeman has been working so far and says the Tigers "absolutely" need him to step up.
