DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Matt Kenseth used a bold pass of
teammate Greg Biffle to win the second Daytona 500 qualifying race.
Biffle was leading headed into the final lap Thursday but tried
to block Kenseth, who dove to the inside and used a push from
Jimmie Johnson to take the lead.
The victory gives Kenseth the fourth starting spot in Sunday's
season opener. Teammates Carl Edwards and Biffle will start on the
front row. Kenseth will be lined up next to defending NASCAR
champion Tony Stewart, who won the first 150-mile qualifying race.
Joe Nemechek and Dave Blaney each raced their way into the 500
in the second qualifying race. Robby Gordon and Michael McDowell
earned the two spots up for grabs in the first race.
